Head of Firmware - ESP32 / IoT (Hands-On)

GrowDirector develops wireless, modular automation controllers for commercial greenhouses. We are seeking a Head of Firmware: a sole-ownership, hands-on position - the company's only firmware engineer and its senior technical authority, reporting directly to the CEO. The role carries full responsibility for architecture, engineering standards, and the complete device lifecycle: development, testing, manufacturing test, OTA, and field diagnostics. As the company grows, you will recruit and lead the firmware team. The position requires a high degree of professional independence.

Responsibilities

- ESP32/FreeRTOS codebase (C/C++): staged modernization behind an automated test suite

- WiFi/TCP/IP, MQTT/HTTP, P2P module communication

- FOTA update pipeline

- I2C, SPI, UART, RS485

- ATE for production and regression testing

- Versioning, CI, documentation, field diagnostics
